As Boulder locals, Anne and Vincent knew they wanted to elope somewhere in the mountains that they already explore in their free time. The couple already had a handful of hikes in mind, but since their mid-June date meant that many trails were still covered in deep snow, I helped them come up with some better options. After hiking a couple of the options in the months leading up to their elopement, we decided on a winner that had a bit of everything: a beautiful alpine lake, emerging wildflowers, and an epic summit with views of the continental divide.

Starting a hike at 4am always feels a bit excessive, until you’re completely alone on the trails, with only the sound of the wind and a few birds to keep you company. The mountains closest to Boulder can be super busy in summer, but we only saw a handful of people at the very end of our eight hours together in the wilderness!

I love how Anne and Vincent made the day their own, from reading excerpts from a few favorite books during their vows, to boiling water so they could enjoy a cup of tea together after signing their marriage license, to mixing up cocktails at 11,500ft. The whole day felt so relaxed—a celebration of the two of them, and this beautiful place we love to call home.
