Aspen Falls Micro Wedding Inspiration

Aspen Falls is a vacation rental in Estes Park, Colorado. When I first came across this property, I immediately saw the potential for events, but they didn’t have many photos to show off the space yet, so I approached them to collaborate on a styled shoot. I brought in my friend Emily from Heirloom Events & Design to plan and style the shoot, and together we built a dream team of local vendors and brought our vision to life.

The goal of this shoot was to show off Aspen Falls as the perfect venue for a micro wedding weekend. From relaxing in the cabins and playing in the lake, to designing two separate ceremony spaces, we made the most of the vast property during our two-day shoot here.

Unfortunately Aspen Falls has since run into permitting issues, and are no longer booking weddings — only vacation rental stays.

Private lake and beach

A big draw to staying at Aspen Falls is that the property has its own private lake and beach, complete with paddle boards, kayaks, and more. There aren’t many lakes in Colorado that are warm enough for swimming, so we took full advantage of the shallow lake to play in the warm water. (Warm by Colorado standards — you are still at 7500ft.)

Meadow Ceremony

On our first walkthrough of the property, Emily and I both fell in love with the meadow by the lake, and knew we wanted to use it for one of our ceremony setups. With a bit of shade from the large pine trees, the most beautiful views of Longs Peak perfectly in the background, and the perfect afternoon backlighting, I am so happy with how this spot came together — especially since the venue managers had not considered it as a ceremony option before seeing our vision in front of them.

Flagstone Ceremony

Our second ceremony was set up on the flagstone patio located right off the Estate House, again looking west towards Rocky Mountain National Park. This option is perfect for smaller ceremonies, and for easily making your entrance for the ceremony without having to walk all the way down to the meadow. And the late afternoon light was again perfectly behind the ceremony setup — a photographer’s dream! Aspen Falls is located right below Lumpy Ridge, one of the most distinct features of Estes Park, and I love how this ceremony site felt like it was naturally incorporated into the rocks around it.

About Aspen Falls

Aspen Falls is a luxury vacation rental in Estes Park

Aspen Falls is a luxury estate rental in Estes Park, Colorado, located right below Lumpy Ridge and a quick five minute drive away from the center of town. The private estate is set on a large 30 acre property in a quiet part of town, and you can barely see neighboring homes from anywhere on the property — it truly feels like you have the whole place to yourself.

The original home at Aspen Falls was built in 1913, and the property has been with the same owner since 2002. After extensive renovations, they are now sharing the property with others as a vacation rental. There are 17 bedrooms spread between the Estate House, Villas, and Cabins, and can comfortably accommodate 28 guests. With two hot tubs, fire pits, lawn games, a playground that includes a huge tree house, and of course the lake and beach, this is the perfect place for spending a long weekend with all your favorite people, without ever having to leave the property.

Aspen Falls is licensed as a vacation rental, and can only host small weddings for 30 people or less — but it is perfect for weddings of that size. For wedding pricing, please contact Aspen Falls directly. For vacation rentals, you can book Aspen Falls directly on vrbo.

    1. Hi Michelle! This venue likely isn’t the best fit if affordability is a priority, but there are many other cheaper places in the area where you could still get beautiful photos. If you’re looking for a photographer who can help you plan everything, check out my pricing and reach out if I’m in your budget so we can talk more!
