Best Podcasts for Wedding Photographers

I’m a podcast junkie. And I truly think that listening to so many of the best podcasts for wedding photographers is a big part of why I’ve grown my business so quickly.

Photography podcasts has taught me everything from how to write great copy for my website to how to leverage Pinterest to grow my business.

And the best part of education via podcasts? It’s free!

When I was first starting out as a wedding photographer, I didn’t have a big budget for education. Investing $1000+ in an online course seemed scary, but I picked up so much information from these best podcasts for wedding photographers for free. Learning from those who have gone before you is the fastest way to grow your business. If you’re not taking advantage of learning for free, you’re missing out.

Here are the best podcasts for wedding photographers.

Photography Industry Podcasts

The podcasts are made for and by photographers, and are the perfect immersion into the world of photography, from how to start and run a successful business, to gear talk and product reviews, to learning SEO and social media marketing and all the other fun things that we get to call “work.”

I have to start this post with Ben, because his was the first podcast I started listening to when I wanted to get into wedding photography.

Most of the episodes are interviews on specific topics related to photography, but Ben also does shorter solo episodes with quick tips and pep talks. I especially love that his interviews get to the point and leave me with action steps I can take to improve my own business.

Bokeh has been around for a couple of years now, so if you’re not already subscribed, you have over 300 episodes to binge on! There are so many good interviews on here, but I’ve learned the most from their Workflow Wednesday series. Whether you’re brand new and trying to figure out what the heck you’re doing, or you’ve been around for years but want to run a more efficient business and enjoy more free time, you will learn from Bokeh.

They’re unfortunately not putting out new episodes anymore, but there’s still a big backlog for you to listen through. Devin and Kathryn get real about how they have built their own successful business, and I love that they focus on creating a life you want rather than just hustling harder. The whole series is great, but I especially loved episode 31, called “Being yourself and the importance of community with Jacob Loafman.

Photo Field Notes Podcast: Career Advice for Photographers

Stories and career inspiration from professional photographers from Allie Siarto: Photographer and Photography Educator.

Photography with Taylor Jackson

Apple Podcasts | Spotify

Most of Taylor’s episodes are short and focused on one specific tip or topic, like how to get paid to travel as a photographer, or even little things like when to shoot JPG or what lenses to use for different parts of a wedding day. Since each episode is short, it’s not the most in-depth, but I know I would have gotten so much value out of this podcast if it had been around when I was first getting started.

Wedding Photographers Unite

Apple Podcasts

Andy Buscemi and Neal Urban discuss the art, craft and business of wedding photography with industry leaders

Business and Marketing Podcasts

Photography business podcasts are good and all, but they often end up being a bit repetitive. I highly recommend that you listen to business and marketing podcasts that aren’t specific to photography as well, because there’s SO much great content out there!

Building a StoryBrand

If you’re frustrated because you struggle to get the word out about your product or service, the Building a StoryBrand podcast will help. Don and the StoryBrand team are the world’s leading experts in harnessing the 2,000 year-old proven power of story formulas to get people talking about your brand. As photographers, we all know the importance of story telling, but this podcast will show you how to use the power of stories to market your business! I found this podcast before I found out about the Building a StoryBrand book by Donald Miller, but quickly bought the book and completed the worksheets and rewrote all my website copy after going through this program. If you feel lost on how to write online so that your ideal clients want to work with you, start listening now!

Online Marketing Made Easy

Apple Podcasts

“How do I start an online business? Grow my email list to thousands of subscribers? Sell more and grow faster? These are just some of the big questions that leading online marketing strategist, Amy Porterfield, digs into on the top-ranked Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast. In addition to mini marketing masterclasses and step-by-step guides, each episode is designed to help you take immediate action on the most important strategies for starting, scaling and automating your online business.”

The Online Marketing Made Easy podcast tends to focus on business owners who sell online courses or digital products, but there’s still so much good education in here for wedding photographers. Amy has been running this podcast since 2013 (back when I had no idea podcasts where even a thing!), so there is SO much content. I just started with the more recent episodes and picked the ones that were relevant to me, like “The Power of the P.S. Strategy,” “How to Create a 3-Month SEO Plan,” and my favorite episode: “Why You Aren’t Taking Action with Brooke Castillo.” Which leads me to the next podcast!

Goal Digger by Jenna Kutcher

Apple Podcasts

“Week after week, host Jenna Kutcher brings you the the productivity tips, social media strategies, business hacks, and inspirational stories that can help YOU design your dream career. Jenna shares tangible tips and hacks that she used to become a self-made millionaire in photography, online courses, Instagram sponsorships, and navigating the world of being a #girlboss social media influencer.”

I could have placed Goal Digger in with the photography business podcasts, but what’s so inspiring with Jenna Kutcher’s story is how she went from working as a wedding photographer in a small midwestern town to running a seven-figure business teaching other entrepreneurs. I don’t listen to every episode (I skip most of her interviews), but if anyone can teach you about the importance of building a strong personal brand, it’s Jenna.

The Life Coach School Podcast

Apple Podcasts

The Life Coach School Podcast is your go-to resource for learning, growing, and becoming certified as a Life Coach & Weight Loss Coach. Through this podcast, you’ll hear directly from the Master Coach Brooke Castillo to help you better understand life coaching, the required skills and mindsets, and how we focus on serving the client to get them the results they seek.

Okay hear me out here. I have no interest in becoming a life coach or weight loss coach. But this podcast offers some really legit tips for how to use your mindset to get the results you want, how to dream big and set big goals, and creating your own narrative. And all of these things are so important when you’re self-employed and running a business all by yourself, because you are the only person with the power to make things happen!

Perpetual Traffic Podcast

Apple Podcasts

“Listen to real stories of business owners just like you and how they overcame struggles with digital marketing and online advertising. Learn how to make Facebook advertising, Facebook Messenger advertising, Instagram advertising, YouTube advertising, Twitter advertising, Google AdWords, LinkedIn advertising, (and more) work for your business.”

Perpetual Traffic is probably the least sexy podcast on this list, but it also has the potential to make you the most money by teaching you how to do paid social media advertising right! If you’ve ever spent money on a Facebook ad without getting a single booking in return, you need this podcast in your life.
