Black Cat Farm is one of my favorite wedding venues in Boulder County as a local photographer, as it combines a beautiful property with world class farm-to-table dining. With views towards the foothills, endless golden hours, and green gardens it’s truly a photographer’s dream. Read on as I’ll share my experience with working here for weddings both small and large.

Black Cat started offering farm dinners during the pandemic, with six small greenhouse cabanas on the property making it the perfect place for safely distanced dining. Since then they have renovated the cabanas, and also started offering private events and weddings.
The first wedding I photographed here was a smaller group of around 20 people, and they booked the Patio and Barn option where you have the old barn and arbor-covered patio available for socializing and dining. Because this is only a semi-private option, there can be other dinner guests at the farm at the same time. This is the most affordable option, starting at a $2,900 food minimum + alcohol, tax, and service charge.

If you want to have the whole farm to yourselves, you can book a Petite Party for 24 guests or less, or a Farm Fete for 25-90 guests. If you have more than 31 people in your group, you’ll need to rent a tent for your reception as there’s not enough covered dining space for everyone without it. Farm Fete buyouts come with a venue fee in addition to the food & beverage minimum, but the pricing is comparable to a 4-course dinner at their sister restaurant Bramble & Hare. Well worth a splurge for couples who want to eat good food on their wedding day!
You can see full event pricing on the venue’s website.

Practical Info about Black Cat Farm
Location: 9889 N 51st St, Longmont, CO 80503

Phone: 303-444-5500
Wedding capacity: 9-90 guests
Black Cat Farm is located a 20 minute drive north of Boulder, or 15 minutes west of Longmont, on a beautiful 500 acre property facing the foothills to the west. For weddings here, especially if many of your guests are coming from out of town, I recommend booking a shuttle service that can pick everyone up at their hotel in Boulder and take everyone home at the end of the night.
This is a working organic vegetable farm, which among other things sell produce at the Boulder Farmers Market, at their own farm store, and supplies their restaurant Bramble & Hare in downtown Boulder.

Wedding ceremonies
Both of the weddings I’ve photographed at Black Cat Farm had their ceremonies at a different location before heading to the farmstead for dinner. With a full venue buyout, you could of course have your ceremony at the farm as well, but you’d likely need a wedding planner who could coordinate the necessary chair rentals and setup for you.

If you love good food, historic buildings, and endless golden hours, Black Cat Farm might be the perfect venue for your wedding in Boulder. For any questions about pricing and scheduling a tour, please contact the venue directly as I’m not affiliated with them — just a local photographer who loves working here!
And if you are looking for a photographer, I’d love to chat more. I’ve lived in Boulder for fifteen years and photographed countless weddings of all sizes here over the years. You can check out my pricing, and contact me to schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit!
