Kayla + Helen’s Boulder Reservoir Session
I first met Kayla a couple of years ago when we were both taking pole fitness classes at the same studio in Boulder, and I got to meet her girlfriend Helen last year when I was volunteering at the Boulder Pride festival. (As a Colorado LGBT wedding photographer, volunteering my photography time is one of my favorite ways to give back to this community!) They have been in a long distance relationship for two years, while Helen was away for school, but are now finally back in the same place and living together in Boulder. As soon as I saw they were in the same place again, I reached out to offer them a free adventure session to celebrate! And lucky for me, they were immediately down for an adventure!
We decided on the Boulder Reservoir for their adventure session, and it turned out to be a huge success … because they kept being photobombed by adorable dogs who were splashing around in the water! As a Colorado LGBT wedding photographer, I am always a bit concerned, even if it’s just in the back of my mind, about running into judgmental people when shooting in crowded locations, but I really should not have been worried with a Boulder location. The dog owners who were out walking in the area we were shooting were all super friendly, and I even ended up exchanging Instagrams with the owner of one of the cutie pups that ended up in the photos!
