Colorado micro-wedding

Colorado Micro Weddings

for couples who love the idea of an elopement, but also want to include their favorite people in part of their wedding day.

Colorado micro weddings are the perfect combination of an elopement and a traditional wedding.

You can have an adventure in the mountains, before celebrating at a venue with only the people you truly can’t imagine spending the day without. I’ll be there to photograph it all.

“Nina exceeded our expectations in every way possible. She made getting our pictures taken feel effortless and natural, and I knew I did not have to worry if she was capturing the moments we wanted. It was important to us to have both an elopement and wedding feel. Nina helped make this happen and picked the most beautiful location for our adventure. The time we had together before the ceremony was incredibly special and something we will cherish forever. We also have her to thank for finding our micro wedding venue! Nina is the best of the best and you will be over the moon that you picked her.”

If you think we’d be a good fit, contact me and I’ll send you a full pricing guide. If I’m in your budget, we’ll schedule a video call so we can get to know each other, talk more about what you’re planning, and make sure you want me as your micro wedding photographer.

Finding the right venue is the biggest part of planning a micro-wedding in Colorado, and where we’ll start our work together. I’ll create a personalized guide to venues that fit your budget and the vibes you want, and nearby portrait locations where we can get epic adventure photos.

By the time your wedding day is finally here, we’ll feel like old friends. I want you to be able to relax and live the whole day, and trust that I’ll capture every fleeting moment without making your micro wedding feel like an all-day photo shoot. The best photos are the ones where you forgot I was there.

After your wedding, you’ll get sneak peeks within two days, and the full gallery within six weeks. Most of my photography collections also include an heirloom wedding album, because I think it’s super important for your photos to not just live on your hard drives.

“We fell in love with Nina’s photographic eye, the effortless and natural style of her work, and the stunning locations she shoots. From the get-go Nina was incredibly gracious with her time, her expertise, and is such a warm and down-to-earth person. We clicked right away and felt so *SO LUCKY* that she was available for our micro wedding in Crested Butte.

We were blown away by the support and resources that Nina provided when it came to all things planning—from thinking about how we wanted our day to feel, to creating a timeline, picking locations, and even tackling our vows. Nina helped us stay true to ourselves every step of the way and we are so, so happy with how everything came together. It was truly a perfect weekend.

We will treasure our photos for a lifetime. They so perfectly capture the day, the surroundings, special details, our beloved circle who was there celebrating with us that day. All of those emotions come flooding back whenever we look back on our gallery. It is such a gift and we are so, so grateful to have these beautiful images. I simply cannot recommend Nina enough!”

“We truly cannot overstate how impactful choosing Nina as our photographer was for our micro wedding! (It was the best money we spent for our entire wedding!) From the first time we spoke we knew that she was the perfect fit for us and that proved true throughout our engagement and especially on our wedding day. Nina found the most iconic and jaw dropping locations for our private vows, and helped us find our ceremony and reception venues too. She was extremely organized, thoughtful, fun to be around, and truly made our entire day perfect. We cannot recommend Nina more! Book the full day—you will not regret it!!!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! I would hope it’s pretty obvious from my whole website that I love working with LGBTQ+ couples, but I also have a whole page on LGBTQ+ elopements here.

I will recommend venues for your micro wedding, but it can sometimes be hard to find venues that fit your budget, fit your vision, and are available on the date you booked me for. Even for 20-30 person micro-weddings on weekdays, many venues in Colorado charge $5-15k+ for the day, so be open about your budget early in the planning process and I’ll do my best to find options that fit!

Getting married at a vacation rental is cooler in theory (but not if you force it to be). There are a handful of epic homes on airbnb and vrbo in Colorado that are suited for and allows a micro-weddings, but these come at a premium price and with limited availability.

Most homes do not allow gatherings that include more people than the amount of guests on the lodging reservation. You can read more about airbnb weddings here.

I help my couples with location guides, vendor recommendations, navigating permit requirements, and creating a timeline for the day. My couples also get a big planning guide with tips on wedding attire, adventure gear, activity ideas, lodging and travel, and everything else I’ve learned from planning and photographing over 280 weddings & elopements since 2017.

I am not a wedding planner though. Here are just a few of the many ways in which a wedding planner can help you:

  • Contact, book, and coordinate vendors and activities on your behalf
  • Help you design the day and make decisions on decor
  • Secure rentals (tables, chairs, dinnerware, barware, ceremony decor), pick everything up, and setup the ceremony and/or reception on the day of your elopement.
  • Coordinate vendors on the day of your elopement, so that you don’t have to worry about missing calls from your chef or officiant.

If you’re interested in working with a planner, please ask me for recommendations!

Short answer: no—however many people you want to be a part of your wedding, there are ways to make it happen. But when guest counts get up over 30-40 people, you’re likely looking at a full wedding venue rental, and should budget accordingly.

I generally don’t book more than 18 months in advance, and most of my couples book around 9-12 months out—but I’ve also booked an elopement the day before, so reach out no matter when you’re getting married. If I’m available, I’d love to help you plan and capture the day!

You do not need to have a specific date picked out before contacting me. If you want warm weather and wildflowers, fall colors, or a winter wonderland, I can help you pick the best date based on the location, weather, and avoiding any local events or holidays that can make a place more crowded than normal.

Get in touch via my contact form, and tell me all about what you want from your elopement, and what you’ve planned so far. If I’m available, we’ll schedule a video chat to talk more about your plans and how I can help you. This part is super important! The more comfortable you are around your photographer, the better your photos will be, too, so let’s make sure we’re a good fit before you book.

If you decide to work with me, I’ll send you a booking link with your contract, the invoice for the $2000 retainer, and once you’ve signed and paid it’s official and we’ll get started on planning your elopement.

I primarily photograph my elopements on digital cameras, but I also use an Instax camera and a 35mm film camera for some highlight photos throughout the day. You can read more about my approach to film photography here.

You’ll get 5-10 sneak peek photos within a week after your wedding, and your full gallery will be ready within six weeks.

Your photos are delivered in a digital gallery that you can easily share with family and friends. You can download your photos as many times as you want, as high resolution files without any watermarks. Your online gallery will be live for one year, so you’ll need to download and backup your photos elsewhere.

The exact number of photos will depend on how many hours I’m there for, and what’s happening throughout the day, but around 50 photos per hour of coverage is normal. You’ll get all the good stuff, without any unflattering photos or lots of duplicates of the exact same thing.

Yes, every photo is edited in a style consistent with what you see on my website. I don’t retouch body shapes, hair, skin, or clothing, because I want you to look like yourselves in your photos!

You can order high quality prints, wall art, cards, and wedding albums directly from your online gallery. All products ordered from your gallery come from my preferred printing labs, and are shipped directly to your home.

You’ll also get a print release that allows you to print your photos anywhere you’d like, but I can’t guarantee the colors and quality on any prints and products ordered outside of your gallery shop.

“Nina is AMAZING! Not only did she capture our wedding day beautifully, she helped us find the perfect location and venue, plan out our day, and ensured everything ran smoothly wind, rain, and shine! She is helpful, kind, organized, and made us feel comfortable and at ease from the start. We couldn’t recommend her more!”
