Chrissy and Mark decided to do things a bit differently for their Coohills wedding in downtown Denver. They were coming out to Colorado from Minnesota to get married here, and planned an epic week of activities around their wedding.
They started the trip off at the Aspen Food & Wine festival, then eloped at Maroon Bells Amphitheater on a Tuesday afternoon. When I walked into the Hotel Jerome in Aspen for their first look, it was pouring rain outside. But by the time the three of us walked outside together half an hour later, the rain had complete stopped.
And so of course Colorado decided to make up for that break from the rain, and give us all the bad weather on Saturday the same week when we met back in Denver for their Coohills wedding.
Luckily they took the rain with a smile. Mark even started singing “it’s like raaaaaaain on your wedding dayyyyy” as Chrissy walked up towards him for their first look. I’d expect nothing less from a couple who met on Bumble – and gave honey jars as their wedding favors!
One of my favorite features of Coohills Restaurant as a wedding venue is the beautiful old bridge that they use for ceremonies and outdoor dancing. Chrissy and Mark had planned to have their ceremony there, dinner inside the restaurant, then come back out for dancing at dusk.
Unfortunately the rain put a stopper to that plan, and they had to move the ceremony onto the patio under cover. But Chrissy and Mark didn’t let that hold them back, and their ceremony was one of the most fun and joyful vow exchanges that I’ve ever photographed!
After dinner and toasts, the rain finally let up, and we were able to head outside for some dancing under the market lights to live music from Diamond Empire Band.
Even with the rain, it truly was a beautiful Coohills wedding, and I’m so glad I got to capture both the mountains and city for Chrissy and Mark’s very Colorado wedding week.
Chrissy also left me the sweetest review after their wedding!
Nina is absolutely wonderful to work with! She was flexible, was able to attend all three wedding events that we planned, and was skilled at both outdoor and indoor shots. Getting your picture taken can be awkward, but not with Nina. She made us feel comfortable the whole time, let us enjoy what really mattered, and captured exactly the sentiment we were going for. The pictures are gorgeous and are going to be something we treasure forever. I highly recommend using her!

Interested in hosting your own wedding at Coohills Restaurant in downtown Denver?
Their historic walking bridge offers great views of the Denver skyline, and the perfect spot for your outdoor ceremony. I’ve found lots of beautiful spots for urban wedding photos within a short walk from the venue, and your guests will have the convenience of parking in the garage right next door, so it’s as convenient as can be for a city wedding.
The private dining room (that’s the room where they’re toasting before the ceremony, in my photos) can seat up to 40 guests, the larger room seats up to 100, and they can seat up to 160 total across the restaurant.
