Dunton Hot Springs

Dunton Hot Springs in Telluride

Dunton Hot Springs is the wedding venue that made me want to become an elopement photographer. My best friend eloped there in January of 2017, and her family generously covered the weekend stay for all their guests. To say it was a life-changing experience is not an exaggeration, as I immediately started building my new elopement photography business when I returned home from their wedding.

Before their wedding at Dunton Hot Springs, I had always pictured being a wedding photographer as the most stressful of photography jobs—running from one thing to the next, wrangling huge crowds of people for group photos, working in churches and ballrooms and indoor venues—none of it appealed to me. Then I got to enjoy a weekend at Dunton Hot Springs as a bridesmaid, and it shattered my vision of weddings as nothing but stress. My friend’s photographers spent the weekend with us, capturing the rehearsal dinner and the whole wedding day, and they enjoyed themselves so much that I was instantly jealous it wasn’t me out there with my cameras.

Since then, I’ve photographed over 220 weddings and elopements across Colorado. I’ve worked in deep snow and meadows of wildflowers, by alpine lakes and waterfalls and on mountain tops, at luxury resorts and simple backcountry cabins, and with so many incredible couples that I still have to pinch myself that this is real life. But one bucket list item still remains: to photograph an elopement at Dunton Hot Springs, where it all started for me.

While hosting a full wedding at Dunton Hot Springs requires a complete buyout of the property (for 44 guests) and is quite expensive at a minimum of $56,000 for two nights in winter and $108,000 for three nights in summer, you can elope here for much less. Micro-weddings for up to 14 people can be booked as an add-on to any lodging reservation, and elopements without guests are a much more affordable ~$2,000 add-on to your lodging cost.

Because Dunton Hot Springs remains the number one location where I would love to photograph an elopement, I am offering a special photography collection to the first couple who books me there—scrolls past my photos to see my pricing!

  1. Well I’m looking at dunton because we love hot springs and have went to so many but to be honest I think it will take just about everything I have to make it happen and so photos would have to be done by my friends and family..but if you have any knowledge of what I would be looking at for say me and soon to be and maybe 15 to 20 people and that’s pushing it really …if possible I would love to have professional photos.
