When Ilana and Rob reached out to book me four weeks before their Flagstaff House wedding, I was so stoked to have their wedding date available. The Flagstaff House has a reputation for having the best meals out of any Boulder wedding venue! Winter weddings have their advantages (epic snow photos aside), and not having to fight others for your favorite vendors is definitely one of them 😉
The forecast for their wedding day was showing a gray and gloomy day in Boulder, but that morning the clouds cleared out and we got a sunny and clear day with the brightest blue skies instead. One of my favorite things about working as a Colorado wedding photographer is never knowing what weather I’ll be working in, and learning to improvise and make the best of any conditions.
Lucky for Ilana and Rob, we had decided to do their bride and groom portraits at Chautauqua after the reception, on our way to the after party at The Bitter Bar, instead of outside Flagstaff House right after the ceremony in the middle of the day. Better lighting for the photos, and much less stress for everyone involved!
One of my favorite parts of Ilana and Rob’s Flagstaff House wedding was the dance party. After the traditional first dance, the guests brought out two big armchairs, and lifted the bride and groom into the air in the traditional Jewish horah dance. It was such a fun moment to photograph, and I was honestly not expecting such a lively dance party early on a Sunday afternoon, but everyone was cheering and dancing along!
Ilana and Rob, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your big day! You have such a wonderful circle of friends and family around you, and I loved being a part of your celebration.
Ilana left me such a sweet review after receiving her photos that I’ll let her words close out this post.
“I found Nina after searching through every photographer in the Boulder area. I loved her fresh eye and beautiful photos, and she didn’t disappoint. Aside from the beautiful photos, Nina was also extremely pleasant to work with. She was unobtrusive throughout the wedding day (we forgot she was there sometimes!), responsive to our needs and requests, creative, and all around a pleasure. Nina came up with the great idea of stopping at Chautauqua on the way from the wedding to the after party, and she took the most incredible shots. I hope to hire Nina throughout the years for all of our major life events.”
