Girona Travel Photos
Girona Elopement Photographer | Spain Destination Elopement Photographer
I visited Girona for the first time in April this year, visiting a dear friend of mine, and it didn’t take long before I added “photograph a Girona elopement” to my bucket list. My friend Marion and her husband David live in the middle of old town, a quick walk from the Girona Cathedral, and the narrow winding streets that I had seen all over Pinterest before my trip.
I did not know what to expect from Girona before visiting, but what I found was the perfect old town, that felt very small and walkable. I had often heard Marion compare Girona to Boulder, and I can totally see why. The population is young and active, there are cycling shops on every corner, and there’s a huge community of pro cyclists, triathletes, and other professional athletes that live and train here. I could see a Girona elopement being the perfect fit for a Boulder couple looking for a historic town but with those laidback Boulder lifestyle vibes!
The most perfect location for Girona elopement photos would be the cathedral, in the heart of old town. If the photos of the cathedral look familiar, you might be a fan of Game of Thrones. The front side of the cathedral, with the giant staircase leading up to the front doors, is used as the Great Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing, while the right side of the building (when looking up the stairs) is the Citadel in Oldtown that Sam Tarly visits. There are multiple other Game of Thrones filming locations spread around Girona, including multiple that were used as Braavos in Arya’s storyline. (See if you recognize the place where Arya watched the theater troupe of her dad’s execution in my photos below!)
If you are planning a Girona elopement, I would love to chat with you about your photography. As I’d love any excuse to visit my friends here, I am offering a special deal on wedding and elopement photography collections for Girona elopement photography. Contact me and let’s chat about your options!
