Colorado Elopements

Elopements are both wild and intimate, both big love and small celebrations. They leave you at the mercy of Mother Nature, but open you up to adventure. And isn’t that kind-of what love is all about? Surrendering control but choosing the person you want to do it with.

How this works

1

We’ll start with a video chat (or meet for a beer, if you’re local to Boulder) to get to know each other. It’s SO important to make sure we get along before your elopement, since I might be the only person there with you! We’ll talk about what you’re envisioning for the day, and how this whole thing works, so that you can feel completely confident in your decision when you book me!

2

I’ll send you a questionnaire to get clear on your vision so I can suggest locations that would be the perfect fit for you. I have a long list of vendors that I can recommend too just to make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible. I am just a phone call or text away throughout this entire planning process.

3

By the time your elopement rolls around, we’ll feel like old friends. I’m not just another vendor—I’ll be there to support you and document these sweet memories. I want you to be able to relax and know that I’ve got you. We aren’t going to make this an all-day photo shoot. The best photos come from the moments you forget I’m there.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for capturing so much raw emotion, beauty, and most importantly memories we can cherish for a lifetime! We absolutely loved adventuring with you. We could not have have asked for a more perfect day or a more perfect photographer to share it with.”

How much time do we need for our elopement?

Most of my couples book 6-8 hours for their elopements, but how much time you need depends on so many different things. I don’t want you to rush through your elopement, because it deserves so much more than just a few hours of posed photos. How do you want to remember the day? What do you two love doing together? How can you create an elopement that feels like you?

These are just a few examples of how you can spend your elopement day, but the best part is that you get to make it your own!

Heirloom Wedding Albums

Let’s be real? There’s very little point in investing in an elopement photographer if your photos will spend the next sixty years on a thumb drive, or on a social platform you’ll never look at again after the likes stop coming in.

Imagine sitting down with your closest friends and flipping through the pages of an album while telling them about how you hiked a mountain on your wedding day.

I want that for you.

How can I help plan your elopement?

Yes its difficult to just bite that bullet of paying for a photographer that is “more expensive” than another. But Nina’s work is leagues above many other photographers, so we decided that we were paying for her travel package so she would be our photographer in Norway.

Nina helped us with planning and locations for our wedding in Norway. I can say with certainty that she was leading the blind and I could not have picked a better person to show the way. Our wedding was beautifully captured thanks to Nina. I could not be happier with the pictures, and I am so happy that we trusted her to capture that day, because she did it so well. Thank you, Nina. You are incredible.

Erica & Zac, Norway elopement

When my husband and I decided to move to Colorado, we knew we wanted to elope and take advantage of all the beautiful spaces in the state. We didn’t give anything much thought other than we wanted great pictures. We contacted dozens of photographers and everyone fell short for one reason or another (timing, style, responsiveness, etc.).

When we found Nina, it felt like we found someone who understood us and truly loved Colorado. She was responsive, prompt, thorough and incredibly helpful. Nina held our hand through the process and we essentially asked her to pick our venue. She delivered and it was exactly what we envisioned. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and I am truly grateful that we found Nina!

Sae & Andrew, Loveland Pass elopement

Nina was AMAZING! There are no words to describe how in love with our photos we are. When picking a photographer for our small mountain wedding we were so nervous that we wouldn’t find someone who knew how to photograph not only people, but also the scenery. We knew that we wanted to get married somewhere in the mountains + snow, and Nina knew the perfect place the first time I talked to her.

On the way up to the ceremony site, I texted her because I was a hot mess and was running late (as usual). She was so sweet and genuine, and truly helped me calm down. She helped me realize that I was getting to marry my best friend that day, so nothing else really mattered. The whole elopement she was outstanding! Nina really knows what she’s doing, and you can tell she loves what she does. We are so so thankful that we found her!

Lauren & Josh, Colorado elopement

We are backcountry skiers, and weren’t sure at first if we could find someone who was as down for adventure as we were, but Nina was amazing. She made us feel at ease from the moment we met her at the trailhead.

As it was just us and Nina, it could have been awkward or weird, but it was like meeting a friend and having a nice chat over coffee. She gave us suggestions to help when they were needed, but otherwise during the most precious parts of our day she was unobtrusive and, in the best way, you could almost forget she was there.

If you want someone who will make planning a breeze, follow you into the Colorado backcountry chatting like old friends, take absolutely breathtaking photos, and make the whole day feel like a dream–hire Nina!

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you photograph our LGBTQ+ elopement?

Heck yes! (And I am so sorry this is a question anyone still has to ask.)

How are our photos delivered?

You’ll get your photos in a digital gallery that you can easily share with family and friends. You can download your photos as many times as you want, in high resolution files without any watermarks.

When do we get our photos?

You’ll get 3-5 sneak peek photos within a week after your wedding, and your full gallery will be ready within six weeks!

How many photos will we get?

It depends on how many hours you book me for, and what’s happening throughout the day, but you’ll get between 50-75 edited photos per hour of coverage.

Do you edit all the photos?

Yes, every photo is edited in a style consistent with what you see on my website. I don’t retouch body shapes, hair, skin, or clothing, because I want you to look like yourselves in your photos!

Do you have insurance and permits?

Yes, I maintain full business liability insurance, and coverage on all my gear (so I don’t have to stress when we’re caught in a hail storm). I also have annual photography permits for Boulder OSMP and Rocky Mountain National Park, and I will gladly research permits for any other location we might want to shoot in.

Can you help us find a beautiful place to elope?

Of course! Many of my couples are coming to Colorado from out of state, or recently moved here, and want my help in picking the perfect location for their mountain elopement. Once you’re officially booked, I’ll send you a questionnaire to help me personalize my location suggestions for you.

Do we have to be experienced hikers to elope?

Heck no! Some of my favorite elopement locations in Colorado are places we can drive up to in my Subaru. But if you’re up for a hike, it opens up a lot more options. Either way, I’ll help you find an epic place to say your vows!

How and when do we pay?

When you are ready to book, a $1,000 retainer and a signed contract will hold your date. The remaining balance is due four weeks before your wedding date. I’m also happy to split the remaining balance into up to four payments for you. For adventure sessions, engagements, proposals, and other portrait sessions, the session fee is paid in full in advance.

How do we book you?

Get in touch via my contact form! If I’m available for your date, we’ll set up a time for us to video chat so we can talk about your big day and make sure we’re right for each other. Then you’ll sign a contract, pay the retainer, and we’re all set!
