Kaitlin + Michael’s Keystone Ski Resort Elopement
Kaitlin and Michael came all the way from Indiana to elope in the mountains of Colorado. They rented a super cute A-frame cabin on the outskirts of Breckenridge, and it was the perfect place to get ready before heading out into the snow. Having an indoor backup location that photographs well is super key for winter elopements in Colorado!
This was the kind of bluebird day that reminds me why Colorado is such a damn good place to live – and get married.
After getting ready, we drove up to Keystone Ski Resort, where we took the gondola up the mountain. The lifties were all so excited for the couple! (One of them even wanted to pose for photos of scanning their tickets.)
Once up high and in the snow, we hiked along and found a quiet spot tucked into the trees. It’s really important to stay out of ski traffic when you’re taking photos at ski resorts, and I didn’t want Kaitlin and Michael to worry about being in the way while exchanging their vows.
On the way back to their cabin, we stopped at an overlook to watch the sun dip towards the mountains. We finished at the infamous Breckenridge sign, in case there was any doubt that these photos were NOT taken in Indiana 😉
At the A-frame, Kaitlin and Michael shared their first dance as husband and wife in front of the fireplace, then signed their marriage license. They had also asked friends and family to write them letters to read, and I loved how they had given everyone matching envelopes to return the cards in.
