Shelby + Mike’s La Joya Dulce Wedding

When Shelby first contacted me, looking for a Steamboat Springs wedding photographer for her La Joya Dulce wedding, I gave her a call right away. Steamboat is one of my very favorite mountain towns in Colorado, and I love any excuse to drive up there. Add in a beautiful new wedding venue at a ranch, and a fun-loving couple who met at a ski condo, and I was in wedding photographer heaven!

Shelby told me that they chose the La Joya Dulce wedding venue because of the beautiful views, and the excellent communication skills from the owner. Their wedding planning inspiration was “Colorado rustic,” which showed in all their details. The ceremony seating was hay bales, and to cover them, Shelby went to coffee shops in Denver to collect coffee bean bags! Every little part of this wedding was so well thought out. Shelby had bought these super cute clutch purses for her wedding party, and Mike got Topo Designs backpacks for his guys!

One of my absolute favorite parts of capturing this La Joya Dulce wedding was the outdoor dance floor! The market lights surrounding the platform gave everything such a great atmosphere, and the guests (and I) all loved dancing in the dark of the warm summer night. Shelby’s mom even ended up borrowing an extra pair of flat shoes from my car so she could keep up!

“Nina was an absolute joy to work with! When I was selecting a photographer for my wedding, Nina called me directly so that we could actually speak and have a conversation about what I was envisioning. As the date approached, she was great at thinking of all the details I didn’t- photos at sunset, timeline for the day, family photos, listing out vendors—her experience really showed. The day of the wedding, Nina was fantastic! She arrived early, worked with my videographer, had a plan for all the shots and really went with the flow of the day while still getting all the shots she knew I would want. A lot of her work shows beautiful elopements, but I will say if you are thinking about her for a larger wedding, you can’t go wrong!”
