Samy + David’s Main Street Station Wedding
I had been looking forward to capturing Samy and David’s Main Street Station wedding in Breckenridge ever since I photographed their epic engagement session last winter. The adventurous couple met while living in Colorado while Samy was getting her veterinarian degree, and now live in Florida while David gets his medical degree. Breckenridge was a natural choice for their destination wedding, and their guests came from all over the world to celebrate with them – from five different countries!
I started the day with Samy and her bridesmaids, who were getting ready for the Main Street Station wedding at a gorgeous private home that a family friend graciously lent them for the morning. I am so grateful to the hair and makeup artist who recommended that Samy take a few minutes to herself when they finished makeup early, which lead to Samy taking her dog Roxy for a quiet walk in the woods before getting into her dress. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of a wedding day, without much time for reflection, but it’s so important to take a moment to breathe!
Meanwhile David and the guys were getting ready at the Main Street Station wedding venue, before taking a private shuttle over to pick us up. Our first stop was Sawmill Reservoir, where Samy and David did their first look at the cute wooden dock. Once they had shared a quiet moment, first alone and then with Roxy, we joined up with their immediate family and wedding party for group portraits. Afterwards the shuttle followed my Subie up Boreas Pass, where I had scouted out an epic meadow overlooking the Tenmile Range for the wedding party and bride and groom portraits. While we didn’t have much time up there, I’m so glad we went, because those mountain views were unlike anything we could get down in the town of Breckenridge.
After popping a few bottles of champagne and frolicking through the meadow, we headed back down for the Main Street Station wedding ceremony. The ceremony site sits in a private courtyard with great views of the Breckenridge ski resort and mountains in the background, and was super conveniently right across from the reception venue. I love that the officiant was a friend of the groom from their days of working ski patrol together, and that their dog Roxy was the flower pup! It really made the ceremony feel extra special for this couple. We closed out the night with dinner, toasts, cutting of the cutest darn mountain cake I’ve ever seen, and dancing at Sauce on the Maggie.
“Nina is amazing. She helped us plan and execute the perfect engagement shoot. (We’re the crazy ones backcountry skiing and rock climbing in fancy clothes). I cannot say enough good things about her. She was just as excited as we were for the adventure. She was wonderful working with my dog too. Worth every penny. I am so excited and cannot wait for her to shoot our wedding day as well. The photos turned out beautifully and captured us well, and were very prompt. I love that we get a sneak peek photo very quickly because we all know the hardest part is waiting! We’ve had a lot of good conversations about how we want the day of to go and she had great suggestions. We picked the top package and at first we weren’t sure we wanted to do an engagement shoot because we didn’t need photos for the save the date and we’d gotten good photos at the proposal. I am SO HAPPY we decided to go with the higher package and do an engagement photo shoot. It was very worth it both because the photos were amazing and because we got to know Nina very well.”
