13 Podcasts That Helped My Photography Business
Today I’m sharing the top 13 photography business podcasts that have helped grow my business! Always being teachable and continuing to seek out more education is such an important part of building and growing a business, and podcasts are one of my favorite ways of learning. When I was first starting my business, I was hesitant to put a lot of money into education, and so I binge listened my way through a ton of free education via podcasts.
Photography Business Podcasts
1. Six Figure Photography Podcast
“Ben Hartley, an award winning wedding photographer and photography educator, talks with other industry experts about how to market and grow your photography business.”
I have to start this post with Ben, because this was the first podcast I started listening to when I decided to start photographing weddings! Most of the episodes are interviews on specific topics related to photography, but Ben also does shorter solo episodes with quick tips and pep talks. I especially love that his interviews get to the point and leave me with action steps I could be taking to improve my own business!
2. The Anchored Business Podcast
“This is a creative entrepreneurial podcast helping you to grow your business and create the life style you have always wanted. We are wedding photographers that grew our business to over $250K and 40 weddings all over the world per year without associates.”
The Anchored Business Podcast is another favorite of mine when it comes to photography specific business podcasts. Devin and Kathryn get real about how they have built their own successful business, and I love that they focus on creating a life you want rather than just hustling harder. The whole series is great, but I especially loved episode 31, called “Being yourself and the importance of community with Jacob Loafman.”
3. Blacklight Podcast
“Denver Photographers Levi Tijerina and Adonye Jaja give their take on photography, race, culture, life, and art. With special guests from both Colorado and beyond, this podcast is dedicated to talking about the things that are hidden and to expose the hidden thoughts, mindsets, and realities around the things we encounter within the wedding industry…for better or worse.”
I have to shout out Colorado photographers Levi and Adonye for their new podcast! These guys are only 18 episodes in, but they’ve already covered topics from what to wear (and drive) to weddings, to creating real community in the photography industry. I’m really excited to see where they keep going with this!
4. Bokeh – The Photography Podcast
“Welcome to Bokeh, a photography podcast exploring the ever-blurring lines between the personal and business lives of professional photographers. This is your host, Nathan Holritz, and I’m happy that you can join me in connecting with photographers and entrepreneurs in the photography industry, as we talk about photography, business, and that sometimes-messy thing we call life.”
Bokeh has been around for a couple of years now, so if you’re not already subscribed, you have over 200 episodes to binge on! There are so many good interviews on here, but I’ve learned the most from their Workflow Wednesday series. Whether you’re brand new and trying to figure out what the heck you’re doing, or you’ve been around for years but want to run a more efficient business and enjoy more free time, there’s something for everyone here!
5. The Photography Together Podcast
“A podcast centered around bringing photographers of all areas together to become better at what we do.”
You know when you look through a list of podcast titles and wonder who the heck all those people who are being interviewed are, since you’ve never heard their names before? Yeah, this podcast isn’t like that. Even as a newer podcast (with 33 episodes so far), Kyle Yates has interviewed photographers like Anni Graham, Laurken Kendall, Henry Thieu, Sam Hurd, and Robert J. Hill. I love that all the episodes are under half an hour too – perfect for quick bursts of learning while driving to shoots!
6. Photography with Taylor Jackson
Taylor’s podcast is new, but with DAILY episodes he’s quickly building up a huge episode library. Most of his episodes are quickies focused on one specific tips or topic, like how to get paid to travel as a photographer, or even little things like when to shoot JPG or what lenses to use for different parts of a wedding day. Since each episode is short, it’s not the most in-depth, but I know I would have gotten so much value out of this podcast if it had been around when I was first getting started!
Other Business and Marketing Podcasts
Photography business podcasts are good and all, but they often end up being a bit repetitive. I highly recommend that you listen to business and marketing podcasts that aren’t specific to photography as well, because there’s SO much great content out there!
7. Building a StoryBrand
If you’re frustrated because you struggle to get the word out about your product or service, the Building a StoryBrand podcast will help. Don and the StoryBrand team are the world’s leading experts in harnessing the 2,000 year-old proven power of story formulas to get people talking about your brand. Get your message out, grow your company, stand out in the marketplace, and have a blast doing it!
As photographers, we all know the importance of story telling, but this podcast will show you how to use the power of stories to market your business! I found this podcast before I found out about the Building a StoryBrand book by Donald Miller, but quickly bought the book and completed the worksheets and rewrote all my website copy after going through this program. If you feel lost on how to write online so that your ideal clients want to work with you, start listening now!
8. Business Bites Podcast
“Rachel Brenke from The Business Bites Podcast shares all of her top tips and information to help entrepreneurs with business, legal and marketing strategies so you can easily and quickly stay protected + successful. Discover how you can easily implement protective and defensive measures for ensuring our business empire is shielded from liability and issues.”
If the name Rachel Brenke sounds familiar to you, chances are you’ve visited The Law Tog website at some point since you first picked up a camera. The Law Tog sells photography contract templates, model releases, and all the stuff that helps protect our businesses. And now she has her own podcast where she covers everything you need to know about running a legal business and staying protected!
9. Goal Digger by Jenna Kutcher
“Week after week, host Jenna Kutcher brings you the the productivity tips, social media strategies, business hacks, and inspirational stories that can help YOU design your dream career. Jenna shares tangible tips and hacks that she used to become a self-made millionaire in photography, online courses, Instagram sponsorships, and navigating the world of being a #girlboss social media influencer.”
I could have placed Goal Digger in with the photography business podcasts, but what’s so inspiring with Jenna Kutcher’s story is how she went from working as a wedding photographer in a small midwestern town to running a seven-figure business teaching other entrepreneurs. I don’t listen to every episode (I skip most of her interviews), but if anyone can teach you about the importance of building a strong personal brand, it’s Jenna.
10. Online Marketing Made Easy
“How do I start an online business? Grow my email list to thousands of subscribers? Sell more and grow faster? These are just some of the big questions that leading online marketing strategist, Amy Porterfield, digs into on the top-ranked Online Marketing Made Easy Podcast. In addition to mini marketing masterclasses and step-by-step guides, each episode is designed to help you take immediate action on the most important strategies for starting, scaling and automating your online business.”
The Online Marketing Made Easy podcast tends to focus on business owners who sell online courses or digital products, but there’s still so much good education in here for wedding photographers. Amy has been running this podcast since 2013 (back when I had no idea podcasts where even a thing!), so there is SO much content. I just started with the more recent episodes and picked the ones that were relevant to me, like “The Power of the P.S. Strategy,” “How to Create a 3-Month SEO Plan,” and my favorite episode: “Why You Aren’t Taking Action with Brooke Castillo.” Which leads me to the next podcast!
11. The Life Coach School
“The Life Coach School Podcast is your go-to resource for learning, growing, and becoming certified as a Life Coach & Weight Loss Coach. Through this podcast, you’ll hear directly from the Master Coach Brooke Castillo to help you better understand life coaching, the required skills and mindsets, and how we focus on serving the client to get them the results they seek.”
Okay hear me out here. I have no interest in becoming a life coach or weight loss coach. But this podcast offers some really legit tips for how to use your mindset to get the results you want, how to dream big and set big goals, and creating your own narrative. And all of these things are so important when you’re self-employed and running a business all by yourself, because you are the only person with the power to make things happen!
12. Marketing Secrets
:This show is for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to learn how to market in a way that lets us get our message, our products, and our services, out to the world… and yet still remain profitable. Inside each episode, Russell shares his biggest “a-ha moments” and marketing secrets with complete transparency. From tough lessons learned, to mindset, to pure marketing strategy, Russell pulls you into his world and shares his personal journey and secrets to growing a business from $0 to $100,000,000 in just 3 years, with NO outside capital!”
This is an occasional listen for me, because so much of the tactics they discuss are for companies WAY beyond anything I’m doing as a wedding photographer. But some of these episodes are marketing gold, and well worth listening to!
13. Perpetual Traffic Podcast
“Listen to real stories of business owners just like you and how they overcame struggles with digital marketing and online advertising. Learn how to make Facebook advertising, Facebook Messenger advertising, Instagram advertising, YouTube advertising, Twitter advertising, Google AdWords, LinkedIn advertising, (and more) work for your business.”
Perpetual Traffic is probably the least sexy podcast on this list, but it also has the potential to make you the most money by teaching you how to do paid social media advertising right! If you’ve ever spent money on a Facebook ad without getting a single booking in return, you NEED this podcast in your life!

Nina Larsen Reed grew a six figure wedding photography business in less than eighteen months from shooting her first wedding, while hiking and exploring her way around the Colorado mountains with her ideal clients. She is now using her half teaching degree from Norway (it’s a long story, ask her about it some time!) to help other wedding photographers generate more leads, build sustainable and profitable businesses, and work with couples they love!
