Angela + Scott’s Scarp Ridge Lodge Wedding

Angela and Scott first reached out to me about photographing their Scarp Ridge Lodge wedding last winter. They didn’t have all the details ready yet, and were originally planning on doing their wedding the next winter, so we started off with booking an engagement session for the summer. They had been to Lake City for hiking the year before, and wanted to go back there for their photos. I had actually never been there before, so naturally I was super excited! And we had a great time driving around in their Jeep on shitty dirt roads to reach one of the most beautiful places in Colorado for their engagement session earlier in the year.

For their elopement, they decided to rent out Scarp Ridge Lodge for a weekend in October. Now saying that Scarp Ridge Lodge is a beautiful setting for a wedding is one hell of an understatement. This luxury mountain lodge is so nice that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel stayed there this summer! We started the wedding day with photos of Angela getting ready, before doing a sweet first look outside of the lodge.

Angela and Scott chose to exchange their vows in private before having their families join them for a more traditional wedding ceremony. I love how I get to see every different type of ceremony when I photograph elopements in Crested Butte. More and more couples are choosing to do what feels right to them, but still finding ways to include the most important people in their lives on the big day, and this was truly the perfect combination. After their ceremony and family portraits, we headed back to Scarp Ridge Lodge for cocktail hour and reception dinner.
