Kelsey + Josh’s Snowboarding Session at Arapahoe Basin

When I photographed Kelsey and Josh’s backcountry hut trip elopement in January, we had grand plans for getting lots of action shots of them snowboarding in San Juan National Forest. Then we got a couple of feet (!!) more snow than expected, avalanche conditions went from bad to worse, and we decided to play it safe with an easy tour around the hut.

A few weeks later, we met back up at A-Basin for a couple of laps on a few inches of fresh snow, and got all the action shots we missed out on the first time around. With temperatures in the single digits when we first got on the lift, it was even colder than their actual elopement day—but we still had a blast!
