Emma + Caleb’s The St Vrain Wedding
I first met Emma and Caleb for their engagement photos last winter at Mount Falcon outside of Golden. At the time they hadn’t booked their Boulder wedding venue or confirmed a date yet, but when they reached out again a few months later and asked me to be their The St Vrain wedding photographer I was ALL in!
I’ve had “be a The St Vrain wedding photographer” on my work bucket list ever since this fabulous wedding venue opened in Longmont last fall. Aside from the super convenient fact that it’s one of the closest venues to where I live in North Boulder, it’s got the perfect industrial chic look that photographs oh so well. Emma and Caleb were going for the effortless moody look, and when the venue itself already fits the bill, it came together so well.
This was my first time working with wedding planner Megan from Brindle + Oak, but I can’t wait to work with her again the next time I photograph a wedding at the St Vrain! She put together the perfect timeline that left plenty of time for candids in between portraits, and so I got to capture all the precious moments as Emma and Caleb were getting ready with their wedding parties, and hanging out with their families before the ceremony. Those little moments are always my favorites when going back through the photos after a wedding, and this time there were so many of them!
After Emma and Caleb shared a sweet first look moment in “the green couch room,” we headed outside for portraits. I love the neighborhood surrounding the venue, because there are so many great brick walls and interesting features to play with for photos. My absolute favorite photos from the day as their The St Vrain wedding photographer were the ones we got in the back yard of the venue in front of the big industrial garage door, with the big heavy snowflakes coming down all around them.
I knew going into this wedding that there would be good music and dancing, as Emma and Caleb are in the indie rock band Wildermiss together. Their other two band mates were both groomsmen for Caleb, and a musician friend of theirs was their DJ. We did some silly “band photos” (everyone gave their best “serious band faces” for me!), and when it came time for partying after dinner the dance floor was packed!
Shoutouts to the fantastic vendors who made my job as a St Vrain wedding photographer easy – especially the fab venue, and planner extraordinaire Megan with Brindle + Oak!
