Casey + Drew’s Stone Mountain Lodge Wedding
Casey and Drew’s Stone Mountain Lodge wedding outside Lyons was the perfect chill Friday wedding, complete with lawn games and cocktail hour by the duck pond on property. Stone Mountain Lodge is an affordable wedding venue where couples have the option of renting out the cabins and motel rooms, as well as the wedding ceremony and reception site.
When you first pull in off highway 36 and into the parking lot, it feels like you stepped back in time to an old motel, but as you round the corner and see the wedding site you immediately get why someone would get married here. The whole site is green and lush, with big trees offering shade (to the photographer’s delight!) and the duck pond feeding station keeping guests occupied while waiting for the ceremony to begin. Throughout the property there are cute little duck-themed accents, like the duck crossing sign, and the two love ducks across from the main office.
Casey and Drew held their Stone Mountain Lodge wedding ceremony on the main lawn, with views of the red rocky mountains that are so common in the Lyons area of Colorado, then moved to the smaller lawn where there’s a permanent bar built for cocktail hour, before finishing the night with dinner and dancing in their party tent. The main photographer, Eleanor of Be Boulder Photography who hired me as her second shooter for the day, even got to take the couple up on top of the ridge for some epic couples portraits after the ceremony, while I stayed behind to catch the guests playing cornhole and decorating the getaway car!
