Weddings & Elopements

I am so honored that you are considering hiring me as your wedding photographer. I might  be a bit biased here, but I truly believe that finding the right photographer for you is one of the most important decisions you’ll make planning your dream wedding. I will be by your side throughout the big day, sharing in the quiet moments and the loud laughter with you and your partner. That’s why I encourage you to read through this page and my website carefully, and for us to meet either in person for a coffee or beer, or via FaceTime, so that we can get to know each other and amke sure we’re a good fit.

Before Your Wedding Day

I know how much work you will be putting into planning your dream wedding, so please let me help where I can. I will assist you in creating a personalized wedding day timeline that leaves you with breathing room to be in the moment, but still gets you all the portraits and candids that you’ll cherish for years to come. You will get access to my wedding day planning guide, with all the little details you might not think about but that make a huge difference in your photos. I’ll also email you a series of tips & tricks in the months leading up to your wedding, and you can always email or text me with questions no matter how small. (I’ve helped my couples find the best flights to Europe for their honey moon, find the best cake baker in Denver, and even picked the ceremony location for an out-of-state couple eloping in Colorado!)

On Your Wedding Day

My shooting style is a mix of capturing moments as they happen, and using simple prompts and movements to create naturally beautiful portraits … no matter how awkward you may think you are in front of the camera.

I don’t want you to miss cocktail hour because the family portraits took longer than planned, and I would rather let you have five minutes by yourselves as newlyweds after the ceremony than immediately rush you off for portraits. A relaxed couple is a happy couple, and I promise this approach will make a huge difference both in your photos and in how you remember the day ten years down the road.

After Your Wedding Day

I will email you a few sneak peek photos within two days after your wedding, so that you have more than cell phone photos to share when you make that big Facebook “relationship status” change. You will receive all your edited photographs in a custom online gallery, and in an heirloom wooden box with your own USB drive and prints, within four weeks after the wedding.

When the photos are ready for delivery, I will have you set up a time to view the online gallery with your partner from the comfort of your own home. You’ll have a much better experience at home than if you happen to catch a glimpse while checking your email at work, so take this excuse to spend the evening side-by-side. Your personalized online gallery includes your high-resolution images to download, order prints, and share with your wedding guests.

Even more important to me is making sure that your photos will have a life beyond social media. Digital photos can disappear in so many ways, from hard-drive failures to social media platforms dying, but heirloom quality prints and albums will last for generations. This is why all my wedding collections include an album!

Engagements & Adventures

I know there are hundreds of photographers out there for you to choose from, but the number one thing that will determine if you get great photos is knowing that you’ll enjoy hanging out with your photographer for an hour or three. If you want perfectly posed portraits on the streets of Denver, I am not the right person for you. But if you want to go hiking, rock climbing, skiing, snowshoeing, have a snowball fight with your fiancé, or swim in an alpine lake, while getting candid photos that feel as fun as your relationship, I’d love to get to know you.

Before Your Session

Tell me what you want, and I’ll make it happen. A 2-4 mile hike within two hours of Denver, with snow covered trees? Done. A short hike with old mining cabins close to Boulder? Done. The perfect slope for backcountry skiing without paying for a resort pass? Done.

I don’t expect you to know how to plan a portrait session, so I will gladly help you through the whole process, from finding the perfect location, calculating when we need to start hiking to catch the sunrise or sunset at the prettiest spot, to suggesting outfits that you won’t freeze to death in. Once you’ve booked a portrait session with me, I will send you my planning guide with tips and tricks for making sure your photos feel like you, and you can always email or text me with questions no matter how small.

During Your Session

My shooting style is a mix of capturing moments as they happen, and using simple prompts and movements to create naturally beautiful portraits … no matter how awkward you may think you are in front of the camera. If we’re going on a hike or other adventure together, I’ll keep my camera down as we get to know each other, then pull it out once you feel comfortable. I promise that I won’t ask you to put your foreheads together and stare deep into your partner’s eyes, but I might ask you to walk over to a pretty lookout and wrap each other up in a big hug, or challenge you to make your partner laugh by whispering something only they can hear.

After Your Session

I will email you a sneak peek within two days after your session, and the finished photos within four weeks. When the photos are ready for delivery, I always recommend that you take the time to view the online gallery with your partner from the comfort of your own home. You’ll have a much better experience at home than if you happen to catch a glimpse on your phone or while checking your email at work, so take this excuse to spend the evening side-by-side.

It’s really important to me to make sure that your photos will have a life beyond social media. Digital photos can disappear in so many ways, from hard-drive failures to social media platforms dying, but heirloom quality prints will last for generations. Fine art albums are the perfect way to tell the story of your relationship, and seeing your portraits on the walls of your home will keep the bliss close. If you are doing an engagement session, I highly recommend ordering a custom guest book with your adventure photos, so that your wedding guests can see how much fun you had!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you based? Will you travel for us?

I’m based in Boulder, Colorado, but I love exploring and will gladly travel just about anywhere to photograph rad outdoor lovers. I have worked in Norway, Iceland, Sweden, France, and across the U.S. and I’m always looking for new adventures.

Will you photograph our LGBTQ+ wedding?

Heck yes! I have photographed LGBTQ+ weddings and adventures before, and I truly believe that love is love, no matter your gender or sexuality.

Can we see a whole wedding gallery of yours?
Absolutely. Just shoot me an email, and I’d be happy to send you a whole gallery from a wedding similar to yours so you can see how I handle a whole wedding day!
Can you copy the photos from my Pinterest board?
I would love to take a look at the photos you’re inspired by to get an idea of what you like, but as there are many factors going into getting a specific shot I cannot guarantee that I will copy a photo exactly … nor should you want me to! It’s YOUR big day with your own special moments, so why would you want to copy someone else’s?
How will you interact with us during the wedding?
I like to believe that I’m a stealthy ninja, but it really depends on what’s going on. While you’re getting ready, I like to stay back and capture moments as they happen naturally, although I might ask you to step closer to a window before putting on your earrings, or move your bridesmaid’s leftover burrito out of the way before you get into your dress. During portraits, I will give you some simple prompts to interact with your partner, but otherwise just let you two love on each other. For family and bridal party portraits, my inner pre-K teacher comes out and I might get a bit bossy to round everyone up and get the photos done in a timely manner. And for the reception, I’ll be out on the dance floor with you to get the best shots!
How many photos will we get?

How many edited photos you get depends on how many hours I am there for, the schedule of events, whether we have a second photographer, and other variables. You will generally receive between 50-75 edited photos per hour of coverage.

How soon do we get our photos?
You will receive a sneak peek photo to your email within 48 hours after your wedding, and the rest of the photos will be ready within four weeks. Any album and print orders will be delivered within six weeks of when you approve the final proofs or make the final payment, whichever occurs last.
Will we get high-resolution files?
Yes, you will receive the edited photos delivered digitally via your own personalized gallery that you can share with friends and family, and you can download the photos in high-resolution. You will also get a print and digital use release, which means that you can share the photos online or print as many copies as you’d like.
Do you backup the photos?

Absolutely! I copy all your files onto two separate hard drives as soon as I get home from your wedding, I keep one of those hard drives in my safe, and I won’t delete the files for at least two years after your wedding. I still highly recommend that you make your own backups as soon as you receive the photos, like uploading them to cloud storage or saving a copy on a hard drive.

Do you have backup gear?

I sure do! I shoot on two cameras, and I’m always prepared with extra equipment in case I drop a camera into a river or a mountain lion eats my batteries. (Knock on wood – it hasn’t happened yet!)

Do you have insurance and permits?
Yes, I maintain full business liability insurance, and can provide a copy of my insurance certificate to the venue upon their request. I also have photography permits for Boulder OSMP, Rocky Mountain National Park, Jefferson County, and I will gladly research permits if you’re looking for a session elsewhere.
How and when do we pay?

When you are ready to book, a $1,000 retainer and a signed contract will hold your date. The remaining balance is due three weeks before your wedding date. I’m also happy to split the remaining balance into up to four payments for you. For adventure sessions, engagements, proposals, and other portrait sessions, the session fee is paid in full in advance.

This all sounds great, now how do we book you?

Get in touch via my contact form, or give me a call or text me at 303-219-0307. If I’m available for your date, we’ll set up a time for us to either FaceTime or meet for a coffee or beer, so we can talk about your big day and make sure we’re right for each other.
