Diana + Will’s Breckenridge Nordic Center Wedding

I had been looking forward to Diana and Will’s Breckenridge Nordic Center wedding ever since I photographed their engagement session at Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park last summer. We went hiking together to catch the alpenglow at sunrise, and even if the weather had other plans and gave us an overcast morning, we had so much fun exploring the mountains.

A year later, we met back up in different mountains for their Breckenridge Nordic Center wedding. This iconic Colorado wedding venue has been on my bucketlist ever since I started shooting weddings, and it was such a treat to finally photograph a wedding here, and with one of my favorite couples to boot! I was also super excited to work with Pam Zola Weddings, a wedding planner who (like me) is based in Boulder. Working with a wedding planner makes my day so much easier, since I get to focus on doing what I do best – photographing the day!

The final cherry on top of the Breckenridge Nordic Center wedding vendor team for Diana and Will’s wedding was Naomi Robles; hair and makeup artist & beauty director extraordinaire! Naomi is so much more than just a hair and makeup artist, and followed along for all of the bride and groom portraits and family portraits to make sure Diana’s dress and veil were perfectly draped, that the couple got water in between photos, and so many other little details that I can’t remember half.

I love that Diana and Will set aside time before the ceremony for a first look, couples portraits, and photos with their wedding party. It gave everyone more time to enjoy cocktail hour after the Breckenridge Nordic Center wedding ceremony, and the most fun dance party I’ve ever captured at a wedding! It all kicked off with “La Hora Loca” – a Latin American tradition that works as a transition from dinner and toasts to the party. Diana and her family is from Colombia, and both the bride and groom love dancing, so this was the perfect way to incorporate some extra fun into the evening, with masks, beads, and fun props along with great latin music. (I had Danza Kuduro stuck in my brain for weeks after!)

“We found Nina through Instagram and immediately fell in love with her photos. Through our several phone calls we could tell she matched our vibe and was a perfect fit for our Colorado elopement. Nina was very knowledgeable and helped us figure out the best hike to do and knew awesome photo spots. Nina was so kind, flexible and helpful throughout our whole time working with her. She made us feel so comfortable during the shoot. Seeing our pictures now makes me want to fill our whole house with printed photos since they make me so happy. Our photos are worthy every penny and we will cherish them forever. I would recommend Nina to everyone I know! She’s the best.”

JUST SO AMAZING!!!!!<3 My husband and I had very different ideas of our ideal wedding, I wanted a mountain elopement and he wanted a big wedding, but we both agreed we wanted to get one thing right: Our Photographer. We wanted our special day to be captured in a very genuine way, no posing, we just wanted to be in the moment with each other and let our photos capture our emotions and beautiful surroundings. That is exactly what Nina was able to do! Nina is not only the absolute BEST at what she does, she LOVES doing what she does, which is evident. Nina also knows all the right spots to get great shots.

Our entire experience with Nina was nothing short of amazing… from our engagement session at RMNP, to our wedding day in Breckenridge, to an adventure session at Trail Ridge road, Nina was so easy to work with, flexible, patient and just so sweet. She is also very organized and a great planner, she always has a plan B, C and D in case something goes wrong. She worked so well with our vendors and our family the day of the wedding and leading up to it.

To top it all off, our final pictures are more than we could have ever dreamed of, people frequently suggest that our wedding pictures need to be in a wedding magazine…. best compliment ever! And all thanks to Nina’s amazing work. I would recommend Nina to anyone without hesitation, an investment that you will never ever regret. Our entire experience with Nina is something I would want every bride to experience, she definitely played a big role in making our wedding day the most perfect day.

  1. Hi Pam! I’m obsessed with these seating charts! Would you be willing to share the brides info with me so I can ask her about them? I’m getting married at the Breck Nordic Center next month! Thanks!
