Sae + Andrew’s Loveland Pass Elopement
Loveland Pass Elopement | Colorado Adventure Wedding Photographer
Capturing Sae and Andrew’s Loveland Pass elopement was one of those evenings that made me realize how freakin’ lucky I am to work as a Colorado adventure wedding photographer! With gorgeous views of the mountains, a hike to a quiet alpine lake at sunset, and their very closest friends as the only guests, we could not have asked for a better way to celebrate their marriage.
When the couple first reached out to me about photographing their big day, we actually didn’t have a Loveland Pass elopement in mind. After considering a bunch of different locations, Sae and Andrew finally settled on Mount Evans … because getting married on a 14er seems like a perfectly normal thing to do here in Colorado 😉 However the ranger station responsible for permits for Mount Evans were giving us very mixed answers, telling me they don’t allow any elopements with guests or on weekends, and so we had to find a new location.
I suggested a Loveland Pass elopement, because this is by far one of the most easily accessible elopement locations in Colorado. Sae and Andrew decided to trust my choice, and when we pulled up to the spot I had picked out, we were all pretty stoked about having this place to ourselves rather than fighting our way through the crowds of Mount Evans. I especially love how Sae’s delicate dress from Ulla Johnson and bouquet from Fawns Leap looked against the rugged mountains!
Now I feel like it’s my responsibility to make a note here for anyone else considering a Loveland Pass elopement, whether you are getting married or you’re a photographer looking for locations. This is one of the few places left where you don’t need a permit to get married or do photos, but that means we all need to take damn good care of this place. Leave No Trace. Stay on established trails, don’t leave any trash behind, don’t pick wildflowers, and for the love of Colorado, do not smoke, bring sparklers, or anything else that can cause fires! We would hate to see this location get restricted by permits or shut down to photographers, so treat it with love <3
If you are planning a Loveland Pass elopement of your own, I would love to chat with you about doing your photography! I’ve hiked the Continental Divide trail a couple of miles in each direction from the trailhead, and now a bunch of good spots for photos that get you away from the traffic and other people at the summit parking lot. Contact me and let’s chat about it!
