Lucy + Matt’s Breckenridge Ski Resort Wedding

Lucy and Matt’s Breckenridge Ski Resort wedding was originally supposed to take place at the Breck Nordic Center. But they changed some things up, and with help of wedding planner extraordinaire Jenn from The Styled Soiree they improvised a completely new wedding ceremony and reception setup outside of Sevens Restaurant at the base of Peak 7 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort.

I started the wedding day with Lucy at a stunning airbnb that her family had rented in downtown Breck, while Matt got ready at their own ski condo. I love that they chose to have a Breckenridge ski resort wedding, when it’s also where they spend their winter weekends skiing together.

We all drove up to Ten Mile Station for their first look, with views of Boreas Mountain in the background. It had been a rainy morning, but the sun came out just long enough for us to couples portraits and photos with their wedding parties without getting rained on. With a couple bottles of champagne, spirits were high as we headed over to Sevens for their wedding ceremony.

Lucy’s brother Eli officiated their ceremony, and I loved how he was able to tie in so many personal stories (like how the couple first met at a dive bar on Colfax). Family connection was key at this wedding, and after a moving toast by Lucy’s dad, her whole family surprised the couple with performing a song they had written for them.

The evening ended up with one heck of a dance party inside Sevens, with Changing Lanes band from Salt Lake City getting everyone moving. Then Eli joined them on stage with his guitar to sing “Only the Good Die Young,” and I swear I’ve never heard louder sing-a-long coming from a wedding dance floor before.

Even with gray weather, and patches of snow still on the slopes in mid-June, Lucy and Matt’s Breckenridge wedding was one to remember!

“Nina was incredible! I found Nina after searching for a photographer who did a wonderful job at our venue. Her pictures were gorgeous and I loved how they didn’t look posed. The photos for our wedding did not disappoint as they looked natural, beautiful, and captured and feel of the day/night! We had some challenging circumstances to overcome with the weather (it was a crazy late snow year and the mountains were super soggy) – Nina went up to the mountains a day early to scout new sites for us that matched the feel we were looking for! She was so prepared and had umbrellas for the little showers that popped up, made it so fun, and low stress! She was the BEST to work with! Could not recommend her more highly!!”

Nina was great for our wedding. She was very open to our game plan, and also was able to navigate some strange weather to get a great number of pictures. She was always supportive of what we were hoping to achieve and the time frame we set up. She is a genuine person, and someone you’ll enjoy being around.
