Lindsay + Garrett’s Gorrono Ranch Wedding
When my friend and Telluride wedding photographer Jessica Christie invited me along to second shoot with her at this Gorrono Ranch winter wedding, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. Jessica and I always have a great time when road tripping together, and Telluride is one of my favorite mountain towns in Colorado, so it was the perfect excuse for a weekend getaway. I hadn’t been here since Emily and Jordan’s San Sophia Overlook wedding last summer!
One of the coolest (literally, pun intended) things about working as a Telluride wedding photographer is that you have to be prepared for heavy snow. I was born and raised in Norway, and I still get giddy with excitement when the forecast shows snow on a wedding day! Lindsay and Garrett’s Gorrono Ranch winter wedding was one of those perfect snowy days.
Transportation to this winter wedding venue from the Telluride Ski Resort is done on snow cats. Driving back down the mountain in the moonlight as the snow fell all around us, and we were huddled up under blankets with the guests, was such an incredible experience!
We started the day with getting ready photos at the New Sheridan Hotel in downtown Telluride, before taking the gondola to the top of the mountain for the first look. Originally the ceremony was supposed to be outside, but with the heavy snow coming down they made a last minute decision to move the ceremony inside for a more pleasant Gorrono Ranch winter wedding for the guests. The bride and groom still braved the weather for photos in the snow!
