The Simon in Louisville

The Simon in downtown Louisville is one of the most exciting new venues I’ve seen in Boulder County in my seven years as a wedding photographer! This modern, industrial venue hosted its first weddings in the summer of 2023, after a complete renovation of the old building, and is perfect for couples who want a timeless space they can make their own.

Immediately upon walking in to the venue, I fell in love with the large garage doors and abundant natural light in the reception room. The large open space can fit up to 200 people for seated dinners, but it’s also perfect for smaller guest lists when you want more room for the dance floor! The decor is neutral, with whitewashed brick walls and cement flooring, but also great accents like the chandeliers and modern tables and chairs (that are included with rentals).

But the real showstopper is the second floor that’s used for ceremonies and cocktail hour. The light in here might just be the best I’ve seen at an indoor ceremony site, with large windows to both the north and east.

There’s also a getting ready suite upstairs, with the kind of large mirrors and clean lines we photographers love to see when showing up to take your photos. (Your hair and makeup artists will love you, too, when they see it.) The second getting ready suite is in the basement, which is great for making sure you don’t accidentally bump into each other before it’s time.

There’s a wrap-around deck between the first and second floor that I could see being great for a first look or portraits—especially after dark in winter, when the trees along Main Street are lit up with holiday lights. Beyond that, The Simon doesn’t have any outdoor space, but I also didn’t feel like it needed it. The sidewalks around the building have a few great spots for portraits against a clean backdrop.

And if you want mountain views, The Simon is only a 20-minute drive from Chautauqua and an hour from Indian Peaks Wilderness. There are also a handful of parks and open space trails with nice views within 10 minutes from the venue, if you want to spend less time driving around.

Even with all the natural light throughout the two main floors, I think my favorite part of The Simon is the basement speakeasy: Nora’s. It’s dark in all the best ways, with lush velvet, leather, and marble textiles—the kind of place just asking for fun flash photos while you’re having a drink with your wedding party, or to sneak away with your partner for a moment alone. Nora’s is also available as a reception space for micro-weddings.

As a newer venue, The Simon is still one of the more affordable venues in the Denver metro area, but I have a feeling they’re not going to remain a local’s secret for long.
