Maria and Ryan came all the way from Missouri for their The Lodge at Breckenridge wedding, and I’m so glad I got to capture their big day! We didn’t meet before they booked me, but were able to meet up earlier in the summer when they visited Breckenridge to nail down the details for their wedding. I was already in Breckenridge for two other weddings that weekend (at Main Street Station, and the Breckenridge Nordic Center), but I’m so glad we were able to meet in person!
One of the things we knew from before they booked was that we really wanted to head off into the mountains for the bride and groom portraits, to get more variety in their The Lodge at Breckenridge wedding photos. While the Lodge is a beautiful venue, there aren’t a lot of great photo locations in the immediate area around the buildings. Maria and Ryan decided to rent a shuttle for the afternoon, so that they could bring their wedding party along for photos up a nearby mountain pass.
Right after I showed up to photograph Maria getting ready, we heard the loudest thunder outside, and it started pouring rain! I joked that it was better to get it out of the way now than when we were playing around in the mountains. And lucky for us all, it really did stop raining right before Maria walked outside for her first look with Ryan! Colorado weather is always a wild card, but I love working with couples who meet any weather with a smile. Maria had actually brought a cute clear umbrella in case of rain, and we were able to get some photos with it that evening when it started raining again.
The ceremony deck at The Lodge at Breckenridge wedding venue is absolutely perfect for intimate weddings, and today was no exception. The sun came out for us, and we all enjoyed a beautiful ceremony officiated by Phil Gallagher. Phil is my absolute favorite officiant here in Colorado, and I was super excited that Maria and Ryan took my advice in hiring him. Having a great officiant really makes such a huge difference in a ceremony, and this one was no exception.
